The airport of Chania (CHQ) is named after Ioannis Daskalogiannis who was a Cretan shipowner and freedom fighter of the 18th century. He was the leader of the failed uprising against the Turkish occupation in 1770.
According to the number of passengers, the airport of Chania is the second biggest of the 3 airports in Crete. It is located on the Akrotiri peninsula and there it is less affected by bad weather than the airport of Heraklion is. In the case of storms, it may therefore happen that flights will be redirected from Heraklion to Chania.
At the airport of Chania, the Rent-a-Car Company Eurocars Crete has a point of presence.
Our employees will wait for you at the exit of the baggage claim, guide you to your rental car and give you a brief introduction. Upon request, they will also explain about the way to your holiday destination.
You can get your rental car for Crete round the clock. A night surcharge will be levied from 11:00 pm until 8:00 am.
Vehicles can be dropped off around the clock, and without a night surcharge. The rental rates include the parking fee at the airport.
